Pirates Agree With Guillermo Heredia
5 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to an undisclosed major league deal with outfielder Guillermo Heredia on Thursday, according to sources. He was non-tendered by the Rays last month and is known as a strong defender and good clubhouse presence. That's not going to do much for fantasy owners, however. Heredia, 29 later this month, hit just .225/.306/.363 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 204 at-bats for Tampa before they let him go in 2019. He has a career slash line of .240/.317/.342 with 17 long balls, 75 RBI and six steals in four seasons with the Mariners and Rays. He might see decent playing time in Pittsburgh as a platoon guy, but you can ignore him in mixed leagues for 2020.
