Patrick Mahomes, Other Starters Likely To Be Rested
4 years agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said some of the starters will not play in Week 17 against the Chargers with the team having clinched the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed and a first-round bye with their Week 16 win over the Falcons. Reid wasn't specific on which players would be rested, but he suggested that backup quarterback Chad Henne would play instead of Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes could start the game, but he most certainly will not finish it. The Chiefs won't be the only team doing this, which is why most fantasy leagues wrap up their championship matchup in Week 16. Wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins (calf) are likely to be rested as well, and it wouldn't be a surprise if tight end Travis Kelce sits, too. Receivers Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson could see a lot of run against the Chargers this weekend.
