5 hours agoCleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 2-for-3 with two walks, a homer, two runs, and two RBI in an 8-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Kwan hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to extend Cleveland's lead to 4-0, a blast that traveled 381 feet and had an exit velocity of 96.5 MPH. Despite missing almost a month of the season with a hamstring strain, the veteran leadoff hitter is having an excellent season, batting .371 with four homers, 36 runs, 14 RBI, and three steals in 151 at-bats. He remains a quality fantasy outfielder option in all leagues.Source: MLB.com
5 hours agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge went yard twice but it wasn't enough in an 11-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Judge wound up going 2-for-4 with a walk, two homers, two runs, and two RBI in his team's second-straight loss to LA. The veteran outfielder hit a solo shot off Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone in the third inning and then came back in the ninth to swat another solo blast. Judge is off to an excellent start in 2024, hitting .298 with 23 homers, 49 runs, 57 RBI, and five steals across 235 at-bats. He has been white hot at the plate of late, batting .500 with three homers and 12 RBI over his past seven games.Source: MLB.com
5 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez had a huge night at the plate in an 11-3 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a walk, two homers, and six RBI to lead the Dodgers to their second straight win over New York. Hernandez hit a solo homer in the second inning and followed that up with a grand slam in the eighth. The veteran slugger has been hot at the plate lately, batting .328 with four homers and 10 RBI over his past 15 contests. Overall, Hernandez is hitting .262 with 15 homers, 38 runs, 47 RBI, and four steals across 252 at-bats in 2024.Source: MLB.com
12 hours agoSeattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth homer in Saturday's 8-4 loss at the Kansas City Royals. Crawford opened the game with a blast off Alec Marsh and added an RBI single in the fifth. He enters Sunday hitting .220/.306/.377 with 17 RBI and 24 runs scored. Crawford has homered thrice since coming off the injured list on May 20 after missing time with an oblique injury. The occasional power makes him an interesting waiver-wire option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues needing middle infield help. Beyond that, there is little appeal for Crawford, who mainly helps out in homers and runs scored. Source: ESPN.com
12 hours agoCincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl hit his third homer of the season in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Each of Friedl's home runs has come in June, with Saturday's third-inning blast off Ben Brown being the go-ahead hit for the Reds. After hitting .161 in May, Friedl is hitting .307 over his last eight games and enters Sunday's series finale hitting .232/.368/.429 with 13 RBI, 10 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Friedl, who hit 18 homers with 27 stolen bases last season and can contribute in both categories now that his bat is warming up.Source: ESPN.com
12 hours agoSan Francisco Giants rookie outfielder Heliot Ramos hit his fourth homer in his last six games during Saturday's 3-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Ramos accounted for San Francisco's offense with an RBI single in the first inning before hitting his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot off Andrew Heaney in the third inning. Over the past week, Ramos has hit .461 (12-for-26) with 10 RBI and enters Sunday hitting .327/.419/.554 with 23 RBI and 13 runs scored. Ramos is still on plenty of waiver wires, an oversight being corrected during his current spurt.Source: SF Giants on X
13 hours agoBaltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson joined New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge as the only player with at least 20 homers when he went deep in the ninth inning of Saturday's 5-0 win at the Tampa Bay Rays. Henderson's three-run blast off Phil Maton was his only hit as he enters Sunday, hitting .263/.367/.580 with 45 RBI and 49 runs scored. Henderson is shaking off a May that saw him hit just .221 by opening June with a .296/.424/519 total that gives fantasy managers confidence the 22-year-old will continue his early June momemtum.Source: ESPN.com
13 hours agoChicago White Sox designated hitter Gavin Sheets' grand slam was the highlight of his 3-for-4 day at the plate during Saturday's 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox. Sheets' slam, his seventh homer of the season, came off Bryan Bello in the fifth inning. He also added a pair of singles that helped improve his numbers to .246/.348/440 with 27 RBI and 20 runs scored. Despite Saturday's outing, Sheets has hit .200/.316/.375 in June and is only an option in deeper fantasy leagues.Source: ESPN.com
14 hours agoSeattle Mariners first base/third base prospect Tyler Locklear is being promoted to the major league roster as Ty France (heel) is dealing with an injury. France was not in Saturday's lineup and manager Scott Servais did express his concern about the severity of the injury in a postgame interview. While France has not officially been placed on the injured list as of yet, he may miss some time out of caution and Locklear's promotion seems to point toward that. Locklear began the season with Double-A and posted a strong .291/.401/.532 line with eight long balls and 26 RBI. He was recently moved up to Triple-A Tacoma on May 28 and has held an excellent .300/.417/.475 through his first ten games at that level. Locklear is worth adding in deeper mixed leagues and should be rostered in all AL-only formats.Source: Ryan Divish
14 hours agoWashington Nationals third baseman Nick Senzel went 3-for-3 at the plate on Saturday with two doubles, a home run, and a walk to lead the Nationals to a victory over the Atlanta Braves. Senzel hit his first double in the second inning and came around to score off a CJ Abrams single. Then, in the fourth, the 28-year-old knocked his second double of the afternoon, which scored Luis Garcia Jr. To cap off the day, he launched a two-run shot in the sixth and scored Keibert Ruiz to put the game out of reach. Senzel will take a solid .243/.352/.441 line with six home runs into Sunday's series finale and will continue to be a solid third base/outfield option all season and is worth deploying in favorable matchups in DFS.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman threw a complete game shutout against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. He allowed five hits, one free pass, and struck out a season-high ten batters. This was an excellent outing for Gausman, who was riding a poor 5.60 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through his previous five starts. While the 33-year-old has yet to live up to his high draft capital, this is an encouraging sign for the ace, as he could be turning things around. However, he has seen his K rate plummet from an excellent 31.1% last summer to a poor 22.7% this season and needs to continue to raise this number to be a top pitching option for the remainder of the summer. The LSU product is lined up to face the Cleveland Guardians next week and will hope to keep this momentum rolling.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley bounced back on Saturday with five innings of one-run ball against his division rival Baltimore Orioles. He struck out nine and allowed just three hits and one free pass, which is a great sign, as the young right-hander allowed nine runs and nine hits against this same Baltimore team last week. The 23-year-old has allowed two runs or less in three starts out of five he has made this season but still has inflated ratios due to his other poor outings. Despite his blow-up starts, Bradley is still striking out batters at an elite 28.6% mark, which is significantly above average. Bradley is scheduled to make his next start on May 13 in a favorable matchup against the struggling Chicago Cubs.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish turned in a gem on Saturday. He tossed six shutout frames, allowed just one hit, and struck out nine. He did not allow a walk. His only mistake came off a Yandy Diaz leadoff single in the bottom of the first. After Diaz, he went on to retire 18 batters consecutively. The 27-year-old now sits with a strong 2.62 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 14:49 BB:K ratio. Bradish did not make his season debut until May 2 due to an elbow injury. He is tentatively lined up to face the Atlanta Braves on Thursday and should be considered a must-start option going forward.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoColorado Rockies starting shortstop Ezequiel Tovar went 4-for-4 at the plate on Saturday with two home runs to power the Rockies to victory. He got things started with an RBI single in the first, which scored Charlie Blackmon. Then, in the sixth, he launched a solo shot to extend the Colorado lead. In the following frame, he hit his second round-tripper of the day, which scored outfielder Brenton Doyle. Tovar has performed very well this season and has been a valuable fantasy contributor with a solid .294/.326/.487 line with ten home runs and four stolen bases and is looking like an absolute steal compared to his ADP in the offseason. Tovar will continue to be an excellent shortstop option all season and has 20-20 upside.Source: MLB.com
15 hours agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers will be placed on the 10-day IL, per manager Bud Black, with a hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, the team will recall top prospect Adael Amador from AA. Amador will join the team in St. Louis and is expected to play second base in Rodger's absence. Amador is the team's top prospect and should be expected to receive regular playing time. The young second baseman is only hitting .194 but has seven home runs, 24 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 170 plate appearances. There is no estimate on how much time Rodgers might miss.Source: Thomas Harding on X
