P.J. Walker Will Start In Week 9 If Deshaun Watson Misses Another Game
1 year agoCleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that quarterback P.J. Walker will start in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals if Deshaun Watson (shoulder) misses another game. Watson is set to be limited in practice on Wednesday, but he was inactive in the Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks for the third time this year after aggravating his sprained right rotator cuff in Week 7. Just because Watson is already practicing this week doesn't mean he's a lock to play on Sunday by any means. Walker, 28, has completed a career-low 49.5% of his 97 pass attempts in three games (two starts) in 2023, throwing for just 618 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions in relief of the injured Watson. It's a pretty decent matchup this weekend against Arizona, but Walker has proven to be nothing more than a desperation QB2 play in superflex leagues.
