Orioles Interested In Michael Lorenzen
1 year agoThe Baltimore Orioles remain focused on pitching upgrades ahead of next Tuesday's MLB trade deadline, according to sources, and Detroit Tigers All-Star right-hander Michael Lorenzen is one starter that they are interested in. The Orioles currently have a 1.5-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East, but they're looking for rotation reinforcements for the stretch run of 2023. Lorenzen, 31, entered his start Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels with a 5-6 record, 3.49 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and just 76 strikeouts in 100 2/3 innings over his 17 starts. He picked up his seventh loss of the year by giving up three runs while walking one and striking out seven in five innings against the Angels on Thursday to raise his season ERA to 3.58. In his previous three starts in July, he hadn't allowed a run while walking six and fanning 14 in 18 2/3 frames. Lorenzen could be more volatile in fantasy with a move out of the AL Central.
