2 years agoThe feeling around the New York Mets clubhouse on Thursday morning was that catcher Omar Narvaez (calf) would probably need a stint on the injured list after leaving Wednesday's game with discomfort in his left calf. "I felt tightness," Narvaez said. "I'd rather call it for a day and be safe for the next day. I couldn't put myself at risk for the whole season. I wasn't going to play the hero." If Narvaez ends up landing on the IL, top prospect Francisco Alvarez would be called up for Friday's game. It's a tough break for Narvaez, who has hit .286 in the early going while contributing strong defense behind the plate for the Mets. Alvarez didn't look great this spring, but he's hit two homers in four games so far for Triple-A Syracuse.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
