Nick Gordon Suffers Ankle Sprain
2 years agoMinnesota Twins utility man Nick Gordon (ankle) suffered a mild to moderate left ankle sprain in the team's Grapefruit League game on Friday against the Boston Red Sox. X-rays ruled out a fracture, but he was in a walking boot and was using crutches after the game. The Twins will continue to evaluate him, and manager Rocco Baldelli said at minimum Gordon won't be playing through Monday's off day. The 27-year-old could very well miss a few weeks, which could put him in jeopardy of not being ready for Opening Day. Gordon was a valuable utility man for Minnesota in his second big-league season in 2022, as he hit .272/.316/.427 with nine home runs, 50 RBI 45 runs scored and six stolen bases in 136 games. He will continue to serve in a utility role in 2023, which will limit his playing time.
