Nelson Agholor 2018 Outlook: Backing Up The Breakout
6 years agoThe breakout finally came for Nelson Agholor. The Eagles had been waiting for two years and the growth of Carson Wentz along with the rest of the offense, plus the move to the slot full time had a lot to do with this. With all the receivers on the depth chart in Philadelphia, will Agholor be able to improve on his breakout season? The short answer is yes.
Agholor’s WR22 finish in 2017 for PPR leagues was propped up by eight touchdowns, which can be hard to bank on year to year, especially on a team like the Eagles. Even though Agholor had a good season in 2017, he still won’t see the type of coverage that will go to Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz and possibly even Mike Wallace. The Eagles will be able to stretch the field and have a balanced attack which will lead to more opportunities for Agholor. As for those eight touchdowns in 2017? The Eagles moved on from Trey Burton and Torrey Smith who combined for seven touchdowns, and even though the Eagles have added to the roster this off-season, there will still be plenty of touchdowns to go around to keep Agholor as a low-end WR2.
