Mike Tomlin Expects Ben Roethlisberger To Be Activated
4 years agoPittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he expects quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to be activated from the COVID-19 list on Saturday. The Steelers will then have an extended walk-through practice to give Roethlisberger a little extra time with his teammates since he's been away from them all week after being deemed a high-risk close contact of tight end Vance McDonald, who tested positive for COVID-19. It's been expected all along that Big Ben would be available to play in Week 10 against the Bengals, but it won't be official until Saturday. The veteran signal-caller had over 300 yards and three touchdowns in a close win over Dallas last week. He might be a bit more risky than usual as a low-end QB1 coming off a strange week while also dealing with injuries to both his knees, but Roethlisberger does have a nice matchup against a Bengals Defense that has allowed 17 total passing touchdowns, tied for seventh-most in the NFL.
