Mick Abel Allows One Run Across Five Frames on Wednesday
Mick Abel enjoyed another strong outing in his second career MLB start on Wednesday. Facing the Blue Jays, Abel tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball. He allowed just three hits and no walks. However, he only struck out two batters. Abel made his MLB debut on May 18 against the Pittsburgh Pirates and looked sharp as well, tossing six shutout innings with five hits and nine punchouts. However, he was then optioned back to Triple-A, as Taijuan Walker was slated to take the injured Aaron Nola's (ankle) spot in the rotation. Walker then allowed 10 runs over his 12 frames and was sent back to the bullpen, opening a spot for Abel. Given Abel's stellar start to his MLB career, fantasy managers should expect him to remain in the rotation until Nola returns from the IL. Abel is slated to have a rematch against the Pirates in his next outing.
