Michael Wacha Starting On Saturday
1 year agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Michael Wacha (shoulder) will return to the mound and start on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds on his 32nd birthday as the Padres look to snap their six-game losing streak. The Padres skipped Wacha in the rotation due to a sore right shoulder, and he hasn't pitched since June 19, so he's going to be more risky for fantasy purposes, especially on the road in a hitter-friendly ballpark against the first-place Reds. However, the 32-year-old has been San Diego's most consistent starter this year, and he hasn't allowed more than two runs in an outing since his fifth game of the season way back on April 26 against the Chicago Cubs. Overall, Wacha has gone 7-2 with a strong 2.90 ERA (3.79 FIP), 1.05 WHIP, 23 walks and 69 K's in 80 2/3 frames over 14 starts.
