Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech (elbow) has an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his elbow, and the recommendation is that he needs Tommy John surgery. That's a big blow to the White Sox future, as Kopech was expected to be a building block for the rotation in 2019 and beyond. It looks like MLB's No. 13 prospect overall will have to miss all of next season. Aside from a disastrous seven-run outing against the Tigers his last time out, Kopech had looked good in his first three major league starts.
