Mets Win Arbitration Case Over J.D. Davis
4 years agoThe New York Mets won their salary arbitration case over third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis on Friday, and he will make $2.1 million in 2021. Davis was seeking $2.475 million this year and still has three years left of team control after this season. The 27-year-old is a solid right-handed hitter with some pop, adding 22 home runs and a .307 average in 2019. He slashed .247/.371/.389 with six home runs and 19 RBI in 56 games in the shortened 2020 season. Davis took a step back last season, but unless the Mets make a late addition to their roster, he's lined up to begin the 2021 campaign as the starting third baseman in spring training. You don't want to pay for his 2019 breakout, but Davis is a solid corner infield option late in deep mixed drafts at his current average draft position of 217.
