Melvin Gordon III Breaks A Big Touchdown Run In Win Over Giants
Melvin Gordon III saw three fewer carries (11) than rookie running back Javonte Williams in the 27-13 Week 1 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, but he outproduced him with 101 yards (9.2 yards per carry), including a 70-yard touchdown run to essentially ice the game in the second half. Gordon also added three catches for 17 yards for a cherry on top. As expected, the 28-year-old started the game, but he split snaps evenly with Williams throughout the game. Gordon can pick up big chuck yardage like he did on Sunday, but an even backfield split with the rookie will cap his fantasy ceiling on a weekly basis. The former Charger remains the 1A with his big touchdown run, and he'll be more of a solid RB3 in a good matchup against Jacksonville in Week 2.
