1 year agoEdmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm (hip) is close to being ready for action, with the team hoping to have him available to play before the end of the preseason. The veteran blue-liner has missed the start of training camp with a hip flexor problem. Ekholm proved to be a great fit in Edmonton last term when he arrived in an in-season trade from Nashville, notching 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 21 outings. His presence also helped Evan Bouchard to have a very strong finish to the year. Having a full season together could result in something special for the pair.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
