Mason Denaburg Making Good Progress
4 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Mason Denaburg (shoulder), the team's first-round pick in 2018, is making good progress from an arthroscopic shoulder surgery he had over the winter. Because he's rehabbing his shoulder, Denaburg is not in camp with some of the Nats' other top prospects, including Cade Cavalli, Jackson Rutledge and Seth Romero. The 20-year-old is in Florida as he continues a non-competitive rehab throwing program, according to assistant general manager of player development Mark Scialabba. “All reports have been positive,” Scialabba said. Denaburg made four starts for the rookie-level Gulf Coast Nationals and had a 7.52 ERA with 19 K's in 20 1/3 innings last year. The team's No. 7 prospect is a bit behind the development curve because of his injury, but he could get back on track quickly and has the potential to be a mid-rotation starter at the big league level.
