Kris Bryant Remains Out Of Lineup On Thursday
3 years agoChicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Bryant tweaked his hamstring the other night and hasn't played since, but the Cubs might just be being extra cautious with Bryant being one of their best trade chips ahead of next week's deadline. With Bryant scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this season, the 29-year-old is a virtual lock to be dealt soon, so the Cubs would be wise to keep him as healthy as they can. Bryant is hitting .264/.346/.489 with 16 home runs, 53 runs, 48 RBI and four steals and could become more valuable with a change of scenery. Patrick Wisdom is playing third and hitting third against Cardinals left-hander Kwang Hyun Kim on Thursday. Wisdom is hitting just .220 in the month of July, but he does have three home runs and is in a prime lineup spot, albeit against a tough southpaw.
