Kerry Carpenter Runs at Full Speed, Set for Rehab Assignment
Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) did running drills at full speed on Monday at Comerica Park, and his next step will be going on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo, according to the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. "Everything is going really well," manager A.J. Hinch said. Carpenter is expected to join Toledo for their series against Triple-A Indianapolis in the next two days. Depending on how the 27-year-old feels in games in the minors, it's possible that he could come off the injured list and rejoin the big-league squad for this weekend's series against the Toronto Blue Jays, which starts on Thursday. Carpenter hasn't played since June 29, though, so it's likely we won't see him back with the Tigers until sometime next week. When he's ready, Carpenter will return to being an everyday player for the first-place Tigers.
