Kelvin Benjamin 2018 Outlook: Bounce-Back Needed
7 years agoKelvin Benjamin enjoyed back-to-back productive seasons to begin his NFL career, but in 2017 he suffered his first struggle-filled year. The Carolina Panthers traded him to the Buffalo Bills after eight games, and in 14 games total he had just 48 catches for 692 yards and three touchdowns. This off-season the Bills let quarterback Tyrod Taylor leave for Cleveland, and will now either be headed by rookie Josh Allen from the University of Wyoming or AJ McCarron.
Obviously, that's not the most ideal situation for Benjamin to be in, but the team should be trailing often this season and will be needing to throw the pigskin to stay in games. He is the top wide receiver option on this team, but LeSean McCoy should contend for the team lead in targets while coming out of the backfield.
Benjamin should be viewed as a fringe flex play with the potential for WR2 upside on a weak Bills squad. If you can land Benjamin in the double-digit rounds, that would be tremendous value. Grabbing him in rounds eight or nine is fair value as well.
