Kellen Mond, Anthony Barr Out Against Bengals
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Kellen Mond and linebacker Anthony Barr (knee) have been ruled out for the Week 1 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Rookie left tackle Christian Darrisaw (groin) has also been ruled out. With Mond being a healthy inactive, it means that Sean Mannion will serve as Kirk Cousins' backup to kick off the 2021 season. Barr worked his way back from a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered in Week 2 of last year, but he's been dealing with a knee injury for more than a month. In Barr's place on Sunday, Blake Lynch should get the start at strongside linebacker. The Vikings defense should be much better than a year ago, but they are a low-end starting unit, at best, to open the season against a Bengals offense that has plenty of upside.
