Justus Sheffield Hit Hard in Loss Thursday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Justus Sheffield had a rough go of it Thursday against the Detroit Tigers, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings. The defense did him no favors, but even so every bit of contact the Tigers made seemed to be hard. Of 18 batted balls, the average exit velocity off Sheffield was 95.2 MPH, representing the most hard-hit outing of his career. With a 4.91 ERA and 1.59 WHIP, it's hard to justify holding Sheffield on fantasy rosters.
