Jordy Mercer Placed On Injured List Friday
3 years agoThe Washington Nationals placed shortstop Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a strained right quadriceps and called up infielder Humberto Arteaga from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. The Nationals are hurting for middle infielders with Mercer and Trea Turner (finger) injured, so they were forced to make a move after catcher Alex Avila had to play second base on Thursday. Arteaga last appeared in the big leagues in 2019 with the Kansas City Royals and hit .197 (24-for-122) with no homers and four RBI in 41 games. He was hitting just .227 with 11 home runs in 29 games in the minors this year and should be avoided in DFS when he starts at shortstop on Friday against Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias.
