Joey Gallo Slugs Two-Run Homer
4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo slugged a two-out, ninth-inning home run to bring the club to within one run of the Minnesota Twins on Monday but they ultimately fell 6-5. The Rangers slugger went 2-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts in the game. Gallo hasn't hit for much power this season with just five extra-base hits and his strikeout rate is nearly 40% but he's produced a 130 wRC+ in part due to a 20.5% walk rate. Some of his success is also derived from his highly unsustainable .432 BABIP. Gallo should eventually return to his old ways although he's coming off a disappointing 2020 season that saw him produce a sub-.200 ISO rate and an 86 wRC+.
