Jeff McNeil Grabs Pine Against The Lefty
3 years agoNew York Mets infielder Jeff McNeil is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against Atlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried in his return from the injured list. McNeil hasn't been very good since missing time with a hamstring strain, going 7-for-32 (.219) with no homers, two RBI and 10 strikeouts in 10 games since coming off the shelf. It's as good a time as any to give him a breather. Jose Peraza is starting at the keystone and is hitting seventh on Wednesday against Fried. The 27-year-old has been equally as cold in the month of June, slashing .173/.246/.423 with three home runs and six RBI in 19 games. And he's hitting just .171 (7-for-41) with two home runs and six RBI on the season against left-handed pitching. There are better low-cost daily plays than Peraza.
