Jazz Chisholm Jr. Starting Rehab Assignment on Thursday
Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Thursday, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. The Yankees are considering having Chisholm play third base when he returns to the big leagues, so he's likely to play the hot corner on what is expected to be a short rehab assignment. The 27-year-old has been out since late April with a right-oblique strain, but manager Aaron Boone said Chisholm should be MLB-ready by next week. Oswaldo Cabrera (ankle), who had been serving as New York's starting third baseman, is unlikely to return this season after suffering a serious ankle injury. Instead of moving veteran DJ LeMahieu to third, it appears the Yanks are more comfortable using Chisholm there. He was hitting under .200 at the time of his oblique injury, but Chisholm's power/speed combination makes him worth rostering in all fantasy leagues.
