Jaylen Samuels Could See Increased Workload
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Samuels may be in line for more touches in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers. The second-year back took 22 offensive snaps last week after James Conner (knee) was forced out of the contest. While it only resulted in four touches for 35 yards, Samuels was clearly the number two back, as Benny Snell Jr. logged just two snaps. While Conner is expected to suit up against the 49ers, the team may look to Samuels to handle the passing down work. However, the matchup is tough, as San Francisco hasn't allowed a touchdown to a running back on the ground or through the air yet this season. If Conner doesn't play, Samuels can be considered a low-end RB3 but if all goes as planned, the NC State product is at best a deep-league flex play in PPR formats only.
