James Paxton Aims To Shut Down Yankees
6 years agoThe Seattle Mariners will send their ace starter James Paxton to the mound Friday night against the Yankees. Seattle's playoff hopes are beginning to dim and the team needs to have a huge series this weekend at Safeco Field. Paxton (11-5) returned from the disabled list in his last start, striking out 10 in five innings on September 1. It has been an up and down season for the big lefty, mixed with inconsistency and injuries. Paxton still has 186 strikeouts through 144 1/3 innings with a 1.11 WHIP and is holding opponents to a .221 batting average. Paxton faced the Yankees on June 21, allowing four runs in five innings with nine strikeouts. Despite the tough matchup, Paxton is a solid play in DFS for Friday night.
