Free-agent catcher James McCann has received interest from the New York Yankees, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox. The Philadelphia Phillies are also believed to be interest if they lose J.T. Realmuto. McCann had a 144 OPS+ last season and has slashed .276/.334/.474 with 25 home runs and 75 RBI since 2019. SNY's Andy Martino said that the Mets were showing "potentially serious" interest in McCann and could be pursuing him over Realmuto. McCann has been a top-five offensive catcher the last two years and will come cheaper than Realmuto. He was a below-average defensive catcher in each of his first five full seasons, but he began working on his pitch framing, but Statcast shows he was a top-10 performer in pitch framing in 2020. The 30-year-old should get plenty of attention in fantasy leagues as well, especially if he lands in a powerful lineup.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
