Jalen Hurts Dealing With High Ankle Sprain
3 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle) is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which can be tricky. It explains why he's splitting repetitions with Gardner Minshew this week in practice. Hurts is trying to play this weekend against the Washington Football Team, but if he's not ready, Minshew will make his second straight start. Head coach Nick Sirianni said that Hurts is "trending upward" after missing Week 13 and having last week's bye to heal up, but the second-year QB isn't a guarantee to play this Sunday morning. And while the matchup against Washington is a really good one, Hurts' QB1 ceiling could be much lower if he plays and is limited in what he can do outside the pocket with his legs. Minshew makes for a fine QB2 streamer in leagues that start two QBs if Hurts misses another game.
