3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jalen Hurd (knee) is a candidate to be put on Injured Reserve to give him more time to be fully ready for the season, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Hurd will not be ready for the season-opener this weekend against the Detroit Lions and looks likely to miss at least three weeks. The 25-year-old former third-rounder has yet to play a single game in the NFL due to injuries. He was able to play in a preseason game this summer after tearing his ACL in 2020, but now he will miss more time. Even when Hurd returns from a likely IR stint, he won't be guaranteed a prominent role in San Francisco's offense.
