J.K. Dobbins 2024 Outlook: Hoping to Shake Injury-Prone Label
6 months agoLos Angeles Chargers' running back J.K. Dobbins showed a lot of promise as a rookie, rushing 134 times for 805 yards and nine touchdowns in Greg Roman's Baltimore offense. Four years later, and he has only played in nine more games. Dobbins' 2021 season ended before it began as he suffered a multi-ligament knee injury in the preseason and saw it linger into 2022 when he missed nine games. Finally healthy to begin 2023, Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1. He signed with the Chargers this offseason, reuniting him with Roman and former running mate Gus Edwards. Dobbins is a clear risk given his extensive injury history, but that is baked strongly into his price heading into 2024. In the late rounds you are drafting for upside and grabbing a guy who has displayed the ability to be an efficient runner in what should be a run-first offense, albeit the injury history, is a dart worth throwing. If Dobbins were to remain healthy, the path exists for him to take this backfield over from Edwards and sixth-round rookie Kimani Vidal.
