6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond has been dreadful so far, and that continued on Saturday as he went 0-for-4 with another pair of strikeouts. Desmond is 3-for-30 to open the season, and he's already struck out 14 times. That ties him for fourth-worst in the league to this point, and he has the second-worst batting average amongst the top 30 players in strikeouts. Desmond is trying to shake the struggles he had last season when he posted a 20/20 season that still resulted in a WAR of negative 0.7, but he seems to have invested too heavily in the other direction so far. Last year, he hit 62% of balls on the ground. So far this year, he's lifted 53% of balls into the air. It looks like he's still got quite a bit of work to do before he straightens out his swing.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
