Hyun-Jin Ryu Solid Despite No-Decision
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays ace pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu helped get the club off to a strong start to the 2021 season with 5.1 innings of two-run ball against the high-powered New York Yankees offense. The veteran lefty allowed just four hits with a K-BB of 5-1. Catcher Gary Sanchez touched him up for a solo homer in the second inning. Ryu threw 92 pitchers in total and 53 of those were for strikes. The Toronto bullpen then threw 4.2 innings of shutout baseball to earn the 3-2 win in 10 innings. With injuries already taking a big bite out of the Jays' rotation to start the year, the club will rely heavily on Ryu for stability -- as well as the nine-man bullpen.
