Gleyber Torres (leg) is back in the starting nine for Friday's contest against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Slade Cecconi at Comerica Park, serving a the designated hitter and batting in the two-hole. Torres is back a day after being pulled early from Thursday's series opener against Cleveland in the third innings with right lower-leg discomfort. The former Yankee already spent time on the injured list this year with a hamstring injury, so fantasy managers have to be stoked he avoided another trip to the IL. The 28-year-old middle infielder has been a steady presence for the first-place Tigers at the keystone in his first year in Detroit, but he has only one hit in his last 12 at-bats. Torres will look to get back on track against Cecconi, a pitcher he has never faced in his career.
