Giovani Bernard Goes On Injured Reserve
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed running back Giovani Bernard (hip, knee) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the team signed running back Kenjon Barner to their practice squad. Bernard, who is dealing with an MCL injury to his knee, will now be forced to miss the next three games. He won't be eligible to return until the regular season finale in Week 18. The 30-year-old hasn't seen much action as a pass-catcher this year behind Leonard Fournette, catching 23 of his 29 targets for 123 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games played. He's added just 58 rushing yards on eight carries. With Bernard now on the shelf, Ronald Jones II and Ke'Shawn Vaughn will battle for playing time behind Fournette. Jones becomes slightly more attractive as a bench stash for those that roster Fournette.
