Giants Leaning Toward Keeping Madison Bumgarner, Will Smith
Madison Bumgarner and closer Will Smith with just hours to go before the trade deadline on Wednesday. San Fran has gone 20-7 in the last 27 games and are just 2 1/2 games back of the second wild-card spot in the National League, so they are now leaning toward keeping their two left-handed pitchers. The Yankees and Astros have been in on Bumgarner, who is an impending free agent, according to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal. MadBum has a nice 2.70 ERA with 27 K's and five walks in the month of July during the Gigantes' hot streak. He has a 3.74 ERA on the year and tidy 1.15 WHIP along with 140 strikeouts in 23 starts. Smith has also been one of the best fantasy closers in baseball this year.
