Gary Woodland Looking To Validate His U.S. Open Title
5 years agoGary Woodland had the defining moment of his career at Pebble Beach last year. If he wants to go down as more than a one-off major winner, he needs to back it up with more wins, and specifically wins in big events. This week at TPC Sawgrass is the perfect opportunity for Woodland to do just that, as he’s coming in with solid form with back-to-back top-12 finishes. His irons have been on fire coming in, having gained strokes with the approach in every start of 2020 so far. He’s had middling success at the Players in his career, with his best finish a T11 in 2014, but many of the elite players have had mixed success at this event, including former champions. At his price tag this week you can go a number of different ways with lineup construction, making Woodland a very tempting option in many formats.
