Gabriel Arias to be Activated this Weekend?
Gabriel Arias (ankle) could be activated for the team's series this weekend against the Kansas City Royals, according to MLB.com. Arias has been on the 10-day injured list since June 30 due to a left ankle sprain, but he's played in four games for Triple-A Columbus since starting a rehab assignment on July 18. The 25-year-old logged 281 plate appearances for Cleveland before getting hurt, posting a .231/.293/.369 slash with six home runs, 31 RBI, 28 runs scored, and three stolen bases. He'll be in the mix for everyday playing time at shortstop upon his return to the big leagues. Cleveland has mostly used Brayan Rocchio at short in Arias' absence. Rocchio is a slick fielder, but he's recorded a miserable .542 OPS in 169 plate appearances so far in 2025.
