Francisco Lindor Might Not Hit Leadoff
5 years agoCleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor, who is in negotiations with the team on a multi-year deal, might not hit leadoff in 2020. Lindor has been the team's primary leadoff hitter for the last two and a half years. He's hit 70 home runs in the last two years and could be better off in the heart of the order to help Cleveland's offense be more productive. In the last two years, Lindor has scored 230 runs and stolen 47 bases in 62 tries (76 percent). Switch-hitter Cesar Hernandez would be a candidate to replace Lindor atop the lineup if the change is made. Delino DeShields would be another option. Lindor is an elite fantasy commodity no matter where he's hitting (ranked No. 6 overall at RotoBaller), but a move to the middle of the order could cause his runs and stolen base numbers to drop slightly.
