Fernando Tatis Jr. Leading Off On Thursday
Fernando Tatis Jr. is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the Friars on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Luis L. Ortiz. Ha-Seong Kim, who had hit leadoff the last couple days, will drop to seventh in the batting order while starting at second base. With the flailing Padres looking to avoid a sweep on the road, they'll use the 24-year-old in the top spot in the order. Tatis has been one of the team's best hitters this season, batting .280 (70-for-250) with 15 homers, 36 RBI, 14 steals and 43 runs scored. He's also hit .302 (51-for-169) with 12 doubles, 11 homers, 23 RBI and 10 steals in 41 games out of the leadoff spot. Tatis remains a no-doubt, must-start in fantasy.
