Edward Cabrera 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Poised to Build on Breakout Season with New Team
Edward Cabrera is coming off what is easily his most complete season as a big leaguer, pitching to a 3.53 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 17.6% K-BB% over a career-high 137 2/3 innings with the Marlins. The biggest key for the right-hander was a significant improvement in his control, cutting his walk rate by 3.7 percentage points from 2024, the second-largest year-to-year improvement among starters in baseball. Cabrera was traded to the Chicago Cubs over the offseason and should benefit from an elite Cubs defense that ranked second in Defensive Runs Saved in 2025. It will be interesting to see how the 27-year-old distributes his pitch mix with Chicago, as he significantly cut his four-seam usage while ramping up usage of his secondary offerings with Miami last season. There is still some volatility in Cabrera's profile due to a spotty health track record and a limited sample of improved command. But his foundation of an above-average strikeout rate and ground ball rate makes him an intriguing mid-to-late round selection around pick 200.
