Dylan Frittelli shot an eight-over par at the Open Championship, missing the cut by five strokes. The South African opened Thursday with an even-par 71 but was unable to keep the momentum going on Friday, hurling an eight-over 79. The 28-year-old came into Carnoustie as a trendy long shot selection after making eight of his previous nine European Tour cuts, which included seven top-25 finishes. While the Open Championship counts as a PGA Tour event, there was hope that Frittelli would succeed with the tournament being held on foreign soil. Unfortunately, though, with the missed cut at Carnoustie, Frittelli has now failed to make the weekend in his previous three PGA Tour events. Frittelli, who has been sharing his time between the PGA Tour and the European Tour, will make for an intriguing bounce-back candidate the next time he tees it up on a course with some length. Frittelli came into the week ranked 22nd compared to the field in strokes gained off the tee in his last 50 rounds. --Spencer Aguiar - RotoBallerRead More News
