Dricus Du Plessis remained undefeated in the UFC and became the new middleweight champion with a split decision win over Sean Strickland at UFC 297. Du Plessis was outstruck in the first round but did go for 2-for-3 on his takedowns in the first five minutes. The fight was back-and-forth, but the South African was able to win rounds two through four on two of the judges' scorecards to edge out the split decision. Du Plessis was outstruck 183-to-140 but went 6-for-11 on his takedowns with 2:08 of control. It was a very competitive fight, but Du Plessis was able to edge out the win, despite being outstruck four of the five rounds.--Cole Shelton
