Drew Pomeranz Gets Nod Over Steven Wright
Drew Pomeranz has been added to the World Series roster over Steven Wright (knee). Reliever Brandon Workman has been removed from the roster as a result. Wright needs offseason knee surgery, but he proved that he could pitch in a simulated game over the weekend. Ultimately, it looks like the Red Sox preferred to have a lefty in their bullpen to face the Dodgers. Pomeranz was pretty awful this year, going 2-6 with a 6.08 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 in 26 outings (11 starts). He hasn't pitched at all yet in the postseason this year. The left-hander was a little more effective out of the bullpen, so Boston will hope he's up to the task.
