Dolphins Plan To Release Byron Jones
2 years agoThe Miami Dolphins have informed cornerback Byron Jones that he will be released when the new league year begins on March 15, according to sources. The Dolphins will designate him a post-June 1 cut, which will save them $13.6 million against the 2023 salary cap. It comes after Jones missed all of last year due to surgery on his left Achilles. The 30-year-old will need to prove to interested teams in free agency that he's healthy, and as of last month he was still unable to run or jump. In his two years with Miami, Jones had 75 solo tackles, two interceptions, 14 passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 30 starts. He was a first-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 and played his first five seasons with the team, making his lone Pro Bowl in 2018.
