Denny Hamlin Wins At Talladega
4 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin won Sunday's YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Hamlin started from the pole and led a bunch of early laps before deciding to drop to the back. With the points cushion the No. 11 car has in the playoffs, Hamlin let the rest of the field mix it up. This proved to be the correct strategy as multiple accidents took out a ton of contenders. Hamlin avoided all of the chaos and then pounced on the final restart, making a daring and controversial move under the apron off of the final turn. Hamlin inched out Matt DiBenedetto at the line and collected his seventh Cup Series win of the season. Hamlin finished the day leading 26 laps, and the win locked him into the next round of the playoffs.
