Denny Hamlin Has Trouble, Finishes 21st At Bristol
4 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin finished in the 21st position in Saturday night's Bass Pro Shops/NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Hamlin was scheduled to start in seventh, but he and JGR teammates, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones failed pre-race inspection and had to start from the rear. Hamlin would work through the field with his teammates, but unfortunately, Hamlin's night would take a turn for the worse. Just before the halfway point in the race, Hamlin ran into the back of his other teammate, Martin Truex Jr., after Truex exited the pits. The contact pushed up Hamlin's hood and affected the handling of his No. 11 Toyota. Hamlin would struggle the rest of the way, finishing three laps off the pace. The result is Hamlin's third straight outside of the top-10, so hopefully, Hamlin can get back to form in the next round of the playoffs.
