Denny Hamlin had a rather anonymous run for most of Sunday's Daytona 500 as it seemed like the Toyotas were saving fuel for most of the event before they made their presence known in Stage 3. Nonetheless, Hamlin patiently worked through the field and took the lead with six laps to go before Austin Cindric passed him on the last lap of regulation to take the white flag. On the last lap, Hamlin drove on the outside of Cindric to attempt to retake the lead, but Chase Briscoe bump-drafted him and then slightly lost control, making contact with Cole Custer to Hamlin's outside, which then in turn wrecked Hamlin as William Byron avoided the wreck to drive from seventh to win. Hamlin did finish the race, taking the checkered flag in 24th, but it was a major disappointment for a driver who probably thought he was poised to win.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
