David Price 2019 Outlook: Looking To Build On Strong World Series
6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox were a wagon in the 2018 MLB postseason, and a key reason for their success in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers was because of David Price's performance. Price notched two wins in the World Series while maintaining an incredible 1.98 ERA against a strong Dodgers lineup. This came after a strong 2018 campaign for the southpaw, as he was 16-7 with a 3.58 ERA in 30 regular season starts. In his final 12 starts of the 2018 season, the Red Sox won 10 of the games, Price had a 2.41 ERA and he struck out more than a batter per inning. In those games, he only allowed more than three runs in one game, while sprinkling in four scoreless starts. He enters the 2019 season as the #25 starting pitcher and the #89 overall ranked player, according to the RotoBaller rankings. He should continue to receive great run support from an elite offense, so he should have a safe floor of 12 wins. Playing in the AL East will always be a negative for pitchers, but Price has the stuff to be able to maintain a mid-3's ERA. At the age of 33, Price has essentially peaked in his skill set, but his approach on the mound is still great in the grand scheme of things across the MLB.
