Darnell Mooney 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Playable PPR Flex Option
Darnell Mooney fell just eight receiving yards short of his second career 1,000-yard campaign in 2024. The former Chicago Bear earned a 21.3% target share in his first year with the Dirty Birds and racked up 64 receptions for 922 yards and five scores. With tight end Kyle Pitts continuing to disappoint and the Falcons deciding not to add significant target competition this offseason, Mooney could once again operate as the team's No. 2 option in the passing attack behind Drake London. It's tough to know what to expect from first-year full-time starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr., but he attempted 33.3 passes per game in his three starts a season ago, which is encouraging for Falcons' pass-catchers in fantasy. Mooney finished last year's campaign as the WR31 in PPR setups, and he's going around the WR50 range in early drafts. While he doesn't have a WR1 ceiling, he should be a playable flex option, and a WR2 finish is in the range of outcomes if Penix exceeds expectations. Consider the Tulane product an intriguing flyer in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts.
